BLD Washington

Bukas Loob sa Diyos (Open in Spirit to God)

The BLD Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community started in June 1985 in Manila, Philippines, which is now the center of its international organization. BLD Washington was formed by our parent district, BLD Newark in 2001.

Vision – We are a community of disciples inspired by the Holy Spirit to be living witnesses for transformation in Christ to bring about a world of justice, human development and true peace.

Mission – As a communion of encountered families, we are called by the Lord to build communities of disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, will renew and strengthen our Christian faithful through programs of Christian Encounter, Spiritual Growth, Pastoral Care and Poverty Alleviation.

Charism – We are the Lord’s under-shepherds. We will be witnesses to the Word that others may hear and understand. We will be counselors with the Spirit, that others may have healing and wholeness. We will be defenders in Christ of those who suffer injustice and oppression.

In the Archdiocese of Washington, BLD Washington holds annual and
biennial weekend retreats for Marriage Encounter, Life in the Spirit Seminar, Family Encounter, Youth Encounter, Youth Life in the Spirit Seminar, Singles Encounter, Solo Parents Encounter, John 6 Crossings (age 12-15), and Mark 10 (age 5-12) Program.

BLD Washington meets regularly every Friday for Praise and Worship and Eucharistic Celebration every First Friday of each month at the Our Lady of Victory Church, 4835 MacArthur Blvd. N.W., Washington, DC.
