Madonna House Washington DC

…Is a prayer presence on Capitol Hill for all who work in the U.S. government, and for the Church, especially the Archdiocese of Washington.

…Responds to the spiritual needs of those who live and work in the area—and beyond.

…Provides rooms (poustinias—Russian for desert) for those wishing to spend time in solitude, prayer and fasting (on bread and water—or tea or coffee).

…Offers hospitality and a listening ear to anyone who wishes to come and talk.

…Hosts seasonal Mornings of Recollection (Advent, Lent, etc.), feast day gatherings, based on Madonna House spirituality.

…Lifts up to the Lord all the intentions entrusted to us, through the work of our hands and the prayer of our hearts.

From our Foundress Catherine Doherty: “We are to be contemplatives in the marketplace.”  That is our life in Madonna House Washington.
